PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate Distribution

C-Risk participates in Insurance Wrap-Up Program Conference.....

San Diego, CA, August 8, 2000 – C-Risk, Inc. President, David L. Grenier, was a featured speaker at the Institute for International Research Insurance Wrap-Up Program Conference held at The Hilton San Diego Resort on August 7-8, 2000. The conference delegates were comprised of about seventy senior-level executives from fortune 1000 companies, construction companies, real estate developers, municipalities, transportation and airport authorities, universities, and insurance agents, brokers and carriers from national insurance firms. Areas of responsibility by titles included; risk management, loss control, underwriting, safety, claims and legal counsel.

The conference provided attendees with advanced strategies for managing and developing insurance wrap-up programs. The use of insurance wrap-up programs for construction projects continues to gain popularity, simultaneously evolving to meet the needs of a wider variety of projects. However, in order to maximize cost savings and ensure their optimal effectiveness, sponsors must explore the potential for alternate uses and fine-tune their wrap-up strategies. The conference focused on providing practical solutions to address construction risk management, insurance and surety problems.

Mr. Grenier’s session was on, “Construction Wrap-Ups: Strategies and Solutions for Success”, which focused on the feasibility, design and implementation of owner controlled insurance programs (OCIP) and contractor controlled insurance programs (CCIP). The critical points discussed were that wrap-ups are an extension of construction contract administration and that successful wrap-ups are an integration of project control, loss control, cost control, resource control, claim control, and document control.

Mr. Grenier covered all aspects of wrap-up administration, from pre-construction, construction, and post construction phases of a project or program. Feasibility studies, responsibility matrices, action plans, and program administration was covered in detail. Wrap-up program structure and design, as well as insurance coverages and alternative risk financing options were discussed.

C-Risk is planning to hold a combined design-build and wrap-up seminar sometime in the late Fall or early Winter of 2000. The exact date and location is still under consideration and will be announced in the near future. This seminar is one you shouldn’t miss. It will be a highly informative and beneficial program focused on many of the critical issues encountered by construction industry professionals responsible for insurance and risk management decisions.
